This Float Pod At Massage Haven in Pueblo is Heaven

After reading this post, and experiencing a float pod for yourself, you’ll want to throw out your bathtub.

Doing a float pod, or a sensory deprivation tank, has always been a bucket list item for me, but surprisingly sits way low on that list. I figured I would always, eventually, get to it someday.

When I heard there was one in Pueblo and that is was owned by an old friend of mine, I had to try it of course. The float pod of Pueblo currently resides in Pueblo West, Colorado at the Massage Haven.

About Massage Haven

Owned by Lynsey Whitehill, Michael Sells, and Christina Johnston, this cute little place is a professional massage therapy getaway for your relaxation needs. Aside from their magical float pod machine (I’ll get to that in a minute), they have four Licensed Massage Therapists on staff. Each LMT has varying degrees of expertise in different kinds of massage therapy.

At Massage Haven, you can experience shamanic therapy, athletic therapy, deep tissue, reflexology, Swedish, and more. Plus, they are the only massage therapy establishment in Pueblo with a float pod, making them unique in their spa services.

Lynsey first opened Massage Haven in August 2018, and they are quickly gaining momentum and a large clientele of people who enjoy their positive personality and their special set of services.

So obviously, I got a massage from one of their LMTs, Daniel, and it was incredible. But what I really want to talk about is their brand new float pod.

About the Float Pod

Massage Haven Float Pod 1

Coming in at 4′ wide and 8′ deep, the float pod is designed to hold 10″ of water comfortably and provide you with enough space to float and feel it’s serene meditative benefits.

In that 10″ of water is close to 1000 pounds of Epsom salts. Why Epsom salts and why so much of it? That amount of Epsom salts to that part water create a buoyancy level that easily helps your body float at the surface of the water.

You will never, and I repeat, NEVER touch the bottom unless you sit up. As long as you are floating on your back, you will never touch the bottom of the pod.

The float pod is also heated the temperature of the body, around 93.5 degrees. At that temperature, you won’t be able to fully distinguish what is water and what is your body.

The Importance of A Shower

Before entering the float pod, Massage Haven staff will instruct to take a shower. For obvious reasons, they need to keep the float pod very clean so you’re not stewing in the juices of the person just before you.

In fact, the float pod has an intense filtration and sterilization system that is incredibly sensitive to the creams and oils you’ll commonly find in lotions, conditioners, body butters, body oils, etc. You must clean your skin and hair thoroughly before entering the float pod or you’ll be paying a very hefty fine for compromising the system.

Lucky for you, Massage Haven has a wonderful steam shower equipped with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash to help you get started.

Benefits of a Float Pod Experience

If you have trouble sleeping, suffer from depression or anxiety, joint pain, or just simply need an hour of pure silence to help you collect your thoughts, then this is the experience for you.

Since the pod is mostly Epsom salts or magnesium sulfate, you will receive the benefits:

  • promotes healthy sleep patterns
  • reduces stress
  • relieves constipation
  • relieves athletic pains
  • accelerates healing
  • promotes clarity and meditative state
  • stimulates creativity
  • promotes relaxation
  • relieves chronic pain

When your body absorbs those minerals, the magnesium sulfate levels will increase which enhances your body’s ability to heal.

By blocking out the noise of the world outside, you’ll fall into a state of deep relaxation. Many say they have spiritual experiences, intense visions, and moments of clarity and creativity.

How Long is the Float?

At Massage Haven, they offer 60 minutes floats for the best experience. 60 minutes may seem like a long time to do a float and to sit in relaxation. However, once you quiet your mind, you will feel a sense of calm and relaxation. Before you know it, a 60-minute float will fly by and you’ll wish it wasn’t over.

When the 60 minutes are up, the float pod pump will turn back on and you’ll know it’s time to get out of the pod.

How Much Does the Float Pod Cost?

You will never believe the price. I didn’t even believe it when I first heard it, but it’s true.

A 60-minute float at Massage Haven in Pueblo, Colorado is just $40.

When you think about how much we pay for things that we don’t need, $40 is easy on the bank account. Since it is also good for your sanity, I’m gonna say it’s a worthy investment of your time.
